Some five years after the introduction of the legendary Modal 002, Modal Electronics has developed an all-new synthesizer that combines much of the functionality of the Modal 002 into a modern and affordable powerhouse – the Modal Argon8.
- True 8-voice polyphony
- Rugged steel and aluminum case
- 120 carefully designed wavetables divided into 24 banks, each with 5 morphable waveform sets
- 28 static wavetable processors, including de-rez, wave folder, wave shaper, phase shaper and rectify
- 32 high-resolution wavetable oscillators, at least 4 per voice
- 8 oscillator modifiers including: phase mod (FM), ring mod, amp mod, hard sync and windowed sync.

- A 4-axis joystick that can be assigned to a variety of modulation destinations and virtually « locked » if desired
- Three envelope generators for AMP, MOD and FILTER that can be accessed independently or all three simultaneously, including negative (inverted) values.

- 3 independent and user-definable stereo FX engines including: Delay, Reverb, Flanging, Phasing and Chorus.
- Glide/Portamento with legato and staccato modes
- Powerful mod matrix with eight assignable slots and four fixed links, 11 sources and 52 destinations
- Two audio rate LFOs with tempo sync (one poly, one global). Polyphonic LFO can be synchronized by frequency divider
