Description
The classic 6176 tube mic preamp and FET compressor served as the secret sauce for some of music history’s most well-known artists and recording engineers. From artists such as Norah Jones to John Mayer, and producers like Tony Visconti and Jack Puig, the 6176 has contributed to the recordings of numerous chart-topping hits and critically acclaimed albums, further solidifying its reputation in the industry.
Behringer wants to keep that classic alive with the Behringer 676, a classic mic/line tube preamp and compressor with custom-built Midas transformers, premium 12AX7/ECC83S and 12AT7/6072 tubes for a warm and rich sound. In just a single rack unit, the 676 provides a versatile range of tonal possibilities that can bring that same timeless quality to any recording.
Freedom to Fine-Tune
676 is made for simplicity and ease of use. The preamp section features controls for input gain, impedance, polarity, high or low frequency shelf, as well as high or low boost/cut. It can even be operated independently of the compressor with the flip of the Join/Split switch.
This circuit has been praised by so many producers and engineers for its ability to give you complete freedom to fine-tune and bring the best out of any vocal or instrument before it hits the compressor.
Effortless Dynamic Control
Featuring a powerful FET compressor with an ultra-fast attack time of 20 to 800 microseconds, 676 ensures precise control over transients. Its adjustable release time, from 50 to 1100 milliseconds, allows for tailored control over dynamics. A vintage-style meter displays both gain reduction and output levels, providing essential visual feedback. This blend of speed, versatility, and classic aesthetics makes 676 an invaluable asset for any audio setup. It can go from slow and smooth leveling for vocals up to a fast and aggressive snap for drums and bass.
Ready for Your Studio!
The 2U rackmount chassis of 676 is extremely sturdy and is designed to take up only a small portion of your valuable rack space. It happily sits in a rack case if you sometimes record on location or want to use it for live sound applications where portability and mobility are key. Either way, 676 is sure to be a perfect fit in your studio. You can even wire up the preamp and compressor completely independent of each other.
An Amazing Value
The Behringer 676 is perfect for recording vocals and instruments with the same analog warmth and detail that made it a favorite of engineers and helped make stars of countless artists throughout the years.
