« Both my parents were French speakers and my mother had French ancestry, so it was natural for their children to have a strong affinity with France and the French language. At school I was fortunate to have a French teacher who loved singing, and we learnt to sing many of the most beautiful traditional French songs. I adored those lessons, and have carried many of the songs in my head and heart to this day.
