The AKG K701’s special diaphragms are thicker in the centre than at the thin edge. AKG calls this patent « Varimotion technology ». This improves the vibration characteristics and the impulse response is much more accurate than with normal diaphragms. You can hear that too: The precise stereo image impresses with natural three-dimensionality and depth.

The bass tuning is linear and neutral. That’s why the AKG K701 is especially convincing in acoustic productions, classical music, jazz and chamber music.

The cabinet is completely permeable to the outside. This makes the sound seem more open and more in line with natural listening habits. In addition, you still perceive outside noise and keep a cool head even during prolonged use thanks to the improved ventilation.

High-quality ear pads that completely enclose the ear ensure pleasant wearing comfort. They can also be replaced if necessary. The leather headband automatically adjusts to the head size.
